9.30am Informal Worship
Congregational Pastor: Jim Kendall
The 9.30am Service offers an informal approach to worship which, in line with Holy Trinity's whole church vision, seeks:
The 9.30 services are planned and organised by a team of congregation members supported by the congregational pastors. There are many opportunities for the whole congregation to explore and develop gifts of ministry and service both within the church and in our wider community.
Weekly attendance averages 80-100 people, a quarter of whom are under 16. Many families attend, but there is also a significant proportion of single people, older people and couples without young children – our age profile is very broad!
The service usually begins with a time of all-together creative worship followed by a block of sung
worship led by our worship band. The children and their group leaders generally go to their age specific groups after the first worship song. These groups offer lively, creative, fun and friendship while learning from the Bible and each other about Jesus Christ and living for him.
The childrens’ groups take place in the nearby Church Centre (separate groups for 3-6s, 7-11s, and 11-15s). There is also a creche available in church for restless younger children where they can
play with toys while their accompanying adult can still hear what’s going on.
The 9.30 Service usually follows a Common Worship form of a ‘Service of the Word’ where the congregation enjoys listening to and engaging with the Bible with a strong emphasis on application to our daily lives. We enjoy hearing how God is at work in each other lives through sharing testimonies and praying together for ourselves and for the world. Our services include Holy Communion once a month and we worship creatively ‘All-Together’ with all ages present throughout the service once a month also.
The 9.30 congregation seeks to become a worshipping community that grows in our fellowship through opportunities to meet beyond the service time. These include sharing breakfast in the Church Centre most weeks after the service, and occasional picnics, walks and bonfire night parties etc. We are also exploring ways in which members of the 9.30 congregation might engage together in mission in our city.
A warm welcome awaits you!
